Insta-Recap: Vintage Harem pants, Election Cupcakes & a Heritage1960 Party

It was a fast-paced but fabulous week! I visited my mother in New Jersey and she cooked tons of Nigerian food for me to bring back with me : ), my fab friend Enyinne Owunwanne invited me to a chic party for her site Heritage1960 at the United Nations building here in NYC. There was lots of African music, which always makes for a fun event! Gabrielle Union covers this month’s Ebony and the whole issue is a must read! Read on for more : )

Today’s outfit post featured my favorite H&M lace jacket and vintage harem pants. One of my fav casual looks!

Yesterday, I visited my 2 month old niece Madie in Jersey City, NJ. How cute is she?? In this pic I think she kinda looks like me when I was a baby, lol. She’s my boyfriend’s sister’s child. Madie and her mom are leaving for their home in Nigeria at the end of this month and I’m going to miss them so much!

En route to NJ, I captured this gorgeous image of the new World Trade Center towers. #neverforget #911

Another wonderful thing about living in NYC? Being able to register to vote in the subway in-between travels. That’s exactly what I did last week and it literally took 5 mins! Fashion friends, make sure you register to vote so your voice will be heard this November! This cute Democratic confection is from Georgetown Cupcakes in Soho. Loved it!

I picked up this month’s Ebony with covergirl Gabrielle Union and it’s a great read! Inside the issue you’ll find tips on starting your own business, 100 ways to have the life you want and a candid discussion amongst Black men about Black women (who’d want to miss that?!).

My gorgeous friend Enyinne Owunwanne, founder of Heritage1960.com, invited me to her chic party at the United Nations, where I had a ball!

I was elated to see that CurlBox had posted this image of me from NYFW! This is from my Day 1 look, you can see more here. Thanks for the love CurlBox : )

I love this fun Summer look, it was the weekend before NYFW. The vintage floral vest is from my mom and my mentor Constance White gave me the floral leather compact : ) Two wonderful women in my life!

Speaking of my mom: she is an AMAZING cook and when I went home to visit her over the weekend she made me this delicious Nigerian stew. Naturally, I took tons back with me in trusty tupperware and for the next 3 days I ate the meal above: rice and stew with plaintains! My favorite meal in the whole wide world!!!

There’s my Insta-Recap! Stay tuned for this weeks Instagram adventures next Monday!
