Weathering The Storm: Hurricane Sandy’s Aftermath

I’m sure many New Yorkers underestimated the intensity of Hurricane Sandy before Monday. I was one of them. The real drama set in Sunday night when it seemed like every NYC grocery store and corner bodega was filled to the max with people gathering food and water. My bf and I stood in what seemed to be a mile long line! I am thankful to say that my neighborhood, Harlem, wasn’t hit badly. Yesterday, we ventured outside for the first time after being cooped up for 2 full days. There were some broken trees and store signs but nothing too serious. We still have electricity and no flood damage. Many of my friends who live in other areas like Brooklyn and Soho are still without electricity and there are many, many others who have been displaced due to Sandy. My prayers go out to all! And especially the fragile babies of the NYU Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit who had to be transferred out of the hospital due to no electricity. We will get through this together! And in the mean time there are ways you can help! Click Here to donate to the Red Cross Disaster Relief.

Be safe everyone!
