I’m so excited to share this opportunity with you all! I’m in the latest Target ad for their 20th Anniversary celebration for their designer collaborations! This September 14, Target is re-releasing 300 items from their designer collaborations from the last 20 years! THIS IS HUGE! As a huge fan of both Target and their epic collabs, I can’t even put into words how much this means to me. Target reached out to me this past Spring at a time when I was juggling the 2 kids and trying to see how I would make my next move in fashion. I’d been away for over 4 years and I really wasn’t sure what the current climate was in the industry and if I would be relevant. Yeah, I was being hard on myself- but when you leave work to raise kids and then come back, it’s hard to say how things will be when you return.
So when Target reached out I was beyond excited and completely overcome with joy when they cast me in their new ad! Being a new mom again with 2 kids 2 and under, I’m in Target at least once a week sometimes twice, sometimes 3 times. It’s become my happy place and where I can get all the necessities for the fam.
The designer collaborations hold a very special place in my heart because for years I would shop the lines at the launch events before fashion week to find cool items to wear on a budget. (I’ve never believed that you have to spend alot of money to look great.) And Target ALWAYS came through. I’ve built up quite a collection over the years from this beautiful Prabal Gurung blazer to my all time fave Altuzarra looks!
I had the pleasure of being cast in the Altuzarra segment of the Target ad and it was such a surreal experience! I’ve always loved his design aesthetic, wow what an honor!! I love everything about this ad, I love love love how incredibly inclusive Target is. How inspiring to have people of many colors, backgrounds and walks of life in 1 ad. Epic.
My Target 20 ad will be in the September issue of magazines (so far I’ve heard Instyle and Vogue omggg) and I can’t wait to find out more. The ad will also be on billboards around the country as well as a handpainted mural in Brooklyn. See the beginning of the mural below! OMGGGGG
I am pinching myself : ) I can’t wait to go see this in real life along with the other billboards and mags. I cant believe I’m writing this! Thank you God!!!
Lifesize Billboard at the World Trade Center, Oculus!!!
You guys, I am so happy!!!!! Please let me know if you happen to come across the ad! I’ve been loving the DMs and IG comments.
This Target opportunity came at the crazyiest time in my life. We moved to a new apartment in July and due to a potentially dangerous construction issue, we had to move out abruptly at the end of July. So much chaos. Plus with the 2 little guys. So we’ve been staying with family, airbnbs and hotels all while doing an intense apartment search. It’s been so crazy but I am being positive and can’t wait to be settled in our next home with Obi and the kids soon. I’ve been praying nonstop!
I’ll be sharing some fun behind the scene pics and story in my next post!! stay tuned
Target 20 launches on Sept 14, mark your calendars!!! You DO NOT want to miss out!
Recently, I celebrated my 36th bday!! What a blessing. There have been so many things that happened this year especially the birth of my 2nd son- Chima! This year Obi and I also celebrate our 10 year anniversary! 10 years have come and gone so quickly and we are so blessed to be witnessing this amazing milestone. 10 years ago we celebrated my 26th bday and that was our first bday together as a couple! Omg-See the throwback pic below!
Birthdays are so special to me and I always try to celebrate them to the fullest- this means having something fun to do whether it’s a delicious dinner, going to a lounge or even a house party like I did for my 30th bday! The next step for bday prep is hair, makeup and of course the outfit! This year I decided to bring in my 36th year with a super cute jumpsuit from PrettyLittleThing!

I paired my PLT jumpsuit with a brown leather belt, strappy dark green heels and gold hoops! Obi and I went to our favorite Italian restaurant and it was an Epic night. I felt like THAT CHICK. Perfect bday and perfect bday look.

Its really flattering and has no stretch so be sure to follow the size chart on the site. Ooooo- Plus PrettyLittleThing is having a 50% off EVERYTHING sale right now that ends tonight. Don’t miss out!
