Rih’s bestie, Melissa Forde aka Mdollas, has launched a line of fun bucket hats in collaboration with Wale’s apparel company- Wrkng Title, where she is also creative director. The bucket hats hit Opening Ceremony today and come in 3 styles: pink pineapple, rasta and a black mesh neoprene. And they’re only $55, which won’t break the bank. Last night, Rih came out to support her BFF Melissa rocking a Raf Simmons Fall 2015 coat (which I am currently obsessed with). Peep the fun.
Getting dressed for Mara Hoffman on Saturday was all about how many layers I could humanly throw on without looking like an eskimo. And I had only 30 mins to do it. I settled on a menswear look of a super warm vintage sweater / wide leg jeans / cool hat. Easy-peesy without looking boring.
Hopped into a nearby cab and then the subway and made it to Lincoln Center in time for the show. Oh, yeah so I’m currently obsessed with MAC’s Ruby Woo lipstick as my go-to red. (Best.matte.red.ever. and it’s not drying on the lips as long as you moisturize first. Cue my fave lip balm: Burt’s Bees mango lip balm)
This was one of my fave looks for NYFW. I love the rounded silhouette and strong shoulders. I tend to lead my looks with an edgy vibe, so I paired this girly Lulu’s skirt with an Alexander Wang for H&M sweatshirt. Threw on this Scandal Collection for The Limited coat I received when I was on Good Morning America with Kerry Washington. Set for Day 2!
My first show was Romona Keveza- her first in the US -as she usually shows in Paris. It was absolutely stunning! I could not get over how beautiful the dresses were. Everything from cocktail frocks to elegant ball gowns. I saw so many pieces that would look great as wedding or bridesmaid dresses. (Our big wedding is later this year so you know I was taking note!) I especially loved the vibe. It was very 1950’s -fashion-show-scene when the designer would go through each look, describing it to the attendees. Romona herself was there giving us deets on unique fabrics and other gems. Perfect! After Romona I went back to the office to work on Curl Sistas Hair. Afterwards, I caught a ride with Lexus downtown. I love how they provide cars during NYFW, especially when it was redic-cold this season.
Then back a lil uptown for Rebecca Minkoff. Been a fan of her bags for years and always like to see how she translates to clothing. This season’s fave was the fringe boot. NYFW is a spontaeous time and you really never know what will happen each day. The night before I got an email from a reporter Prune Perromat from AFP- Agence France-Presse (one of the largest newswires in the world. Publications and journalists subscribe to them and use their stories for various outlets). Prune wanted to profile me for a story she was working on – a fashion bloggers experience at NYFW. We agreed to meet up at my next stop- Full Force PR. (You can read the AFP feature here).
While at Full Force I feel in love with the jewelry line- Diabolli Kill, esp. this sick-ass statement ring. After the showroom, Prune and I met up with my husband to go to the Lulu’s party. Lulu’s and I teamed up on some NYFW looks this season so I was excited to come and support. It was such a chill party- great vibes and people. I actually met a bunch of my followers there, which was so nice. This one amazing follower showed me a sketch she did of me from like 4 years ago. Pretty epic. The Lulu’s team was awesome! I love those girls.
