Hi Fabulous Friends!

I always get super excited when I see a fab and unique new jewelry line! Last month, I had the pleasure of meeting Alison Dawson, designer of C’est Joli! Her collection is full of amazing concepts and is incredibly eye catching. It is made solely of cord and trim. I love the unique appeal! I borrowed her “Scribble” necklace and I felt so cool wearing it! It added so much to my outfit and I got a ton of compliments. I wanted to find out more about Allison (who is from Canada) and her fab line so we sat down for an interview! Check it out!

Joy Adaeze-“How long have you been designing your collection?”

Alison Dawson-“I’ve been designing jewelry for a number of years, using more traditional material, like beads or vintage pieces, and it has only been about a year with exclusively cords and trims.”

JA-“Where did you get the idea to use cord in your jewelry designs? It’s so unique and innovative!”

AD-“I love trying different materials and I seemed to have found my personal ‘voice’ or style using textiles. I’m a big fabric fan so it has been cool using them in a different way.”

JA-“Do you make each piece yourself?”

AD-“Yes, I hand make all of my designs from my little home studio in Toronto.”

JA-“You have such amazing color combinations. What inspires you to mix certain colors together?

AD-“I started my design career as a textile studio colorist and I think that helped with coming up with interesting color combinations.”

JA-“How do you describe the style aesthetic of your collection?”

AD-“Modern chic, fashion forward statement pieces.”

JA-“Where do you see the future of C’est Joli?”

AD-“I’d like to extend the line to other accessories and to explore more textile materials, such as lace.”
