Day 1: NYFW Diary

Wearing: vintage Adidas sweatshirt / Altuzarra for Target blazer / vintage brooch / H&M blazer (layered as a coat) / my husband’s Topman scarf / Zara pants / Asos sneakers / Khirma New York bag / Mercura sunglasses / Betsey Johnson bracelet /  Lips: Ruby Woo by MAC

Each NYFW season I always have this really great idea to actually organize my outfits for the week- only thing is this never actually happens. I usually end up choosing what I’m going to wear right before getting dressed to run out out or if I get an extra moment, I pick something the night before. On day 1, it was a pick-an-outfit-in-10-minutes kinda situation.

I was in a comfy mood so I settled on Zara pants and sneakers (see additional outfit deets above) with lots and lots of layers up top- like I was literally wearing 1 top, 1 sweater, 1 sweatshirt and a blazer, oh and then another blazer. This layering thing has been a lifesaver, seeing that this is one of the coldest NYFW’s maybe ever.

My first show was Marissa Webb over at Milk Studios, which is the cool, chic venue alternative to Lincoln Center. Unlike, yesterday at pre-nyfw- I was running LATE and thought I’d miss the entire thing but something amazing happened. Just as I arrived, Marissa Webb’s pr girls walked me upstairs just as the show was starting. They were the sweetest ladies! (I’ll save this for another post, but through out my years as a blogger and stylist, I’ve found that prs are superhuman and never stop working. I love their grind.)

It was my first time at Marissa Webb and I LOVED the collection. I actually met Marissa years ago in a bathroom during an event. I complimented her on her shoes and she was a sweetheart. Very stylish woman and very, very talented. (Marissa is also the new creative director at Banana Republic.) Back to the collection- I loved the tailored blazers and clever separates- and of course the sick layers. (See the full collection here)

After leaving Marissa, I hung out for a bit and chilled in the super cute #DesignDisrupted lounge.

I’ve worn Khirma for years and she is just a genius. Best handbag designer! The presentation was at her beautiful shop downtown at 102 Charles Street and it was so intimate and cozy.

Here is a vid of my faves with my ultimate being the grey tote. Beyond gorgeous, especially since I consider grey to be one of my fave colors.

I chatted with the Khirma crew, including the designer herself. They are like family! I love them! (I did a quick interview with Khirma which will be up shortly.) Pretty much the presentation consisted of me obsessing over the bags + talking fun pics. Pretty epic time w/ awesome people.

After Khirma, I headed to Chelsea to pick up some sunglasses for NYFW from one of fave designers, Mercura NYC. I’ve been wearing them for years- you guys may remember those sick mirrored monkey frames. Addicted. Grabbed a doughnut and chia latte downstairs and then time to head home. Not too bad for Day 1. Probably my most chill ever. Stay tuned for Day 2!
