The Good, The Bad and the Ugly at MET 2012

The most exciting time in fashion- the MET Ball! Especially with this years theme- Schiaperelli & Prada: Impossible Conversations. Amazing. I cannot wait to check out the exhibit. But, before we get into all that, there are some important tasks at hand that need to be addressed….Who rocked the red carpet and who should have, well, stayed at home.

When it comes to fashion, I look at the complete look, not just the gown. For a look to really shine bright,  it has to come together in a beautiful, cohesive way. Hair, makeup, gown- it all has a part in telling the story.

THE GOOD

KAROLINA KURKOVA in Rachel Zoe

Karolina, honey, I didn’t know you got down like that. I am very, very impressed! You looked fierce and most importantly this look DID NOT own you. As a turban aficionado, I praise this look for the red carpet. It demands attention. She werked it and twerked it! Yes!

BEYONCE in Givenchy

Beyonce, beyonce, beyonce. You are amazing. There is nothing sexier than a hot momma! The sheer dress is alluring and daring. And fun! The playfulness is seen full force in the dramatic black to purple feather ombre. Kudos to her stylist and my friend Ty Hunter and to Beyonce for owning it! With all do respect, you are a #milf : )

ANNA WINTOUR in Prada

Oh my darling, Anna, you are a vision in this Prada lobster tail frock! So glamorous, so chic. You are  fashion queen for a reason. The white gown with gold detail is genius. But only a true boss can turn it up a notch with a sumptuous fur.

AMBER HEARD in Zac Posen

Zac Posen is truly gifted. (I was so honored to meet him last year at his holiday party and then to attend his Fall 2012 show.) He knows a women’s body like no other designer. This gown is so special. It’s strong, yet delicate. Just like a chic. Zac just gets it.

TIM TEBOW in Ralph Lauren Purple Label

He just looks so sexy. That’s it.

& Now…

THE BAD & THE UGLY

CHRISTINA RICCI IN Thakoon

I’m weeping. The color washes her out. This dress belongs an a women 6 inches taller than her. It’s not a bad dress, it’s just on the wrong damn person. Heartbreaking.

LANA DEL REY in Altuzarra

Gwyneth already rocked the cape fabulously when she wore Tom Ford at this years Oscars. Lana, boo-boo, it was already done. An iconic look like that cannot be re-done. (That J Lo dress from 2000’s Grammys, anyone?) When you are able to witness a look so iconic, you thank it and send it on its way. DO NOT try to replicate and then replicate sub par. I’m done.

DAKOTA FANNING in Louis Vuitton

Dakota seems quite lovely but I cannot understand why she insists on washing herself out with grandma style gowns. Dakota, honey, bong water grey is not your color! I would love to see you in something that pops! You’re young, live a ‘lil.

RIHANNA in Tom Ford

It hurt me to my heart to add Rih to The Bad & The Ugly list. It did. But it had to be done. I could not turn my back with a clean soul to this mess. This dress looks cheap and boring. Rih has had so many epic red carpet moments. (Case in point the “Shut ’em Down” Dolce & Gabanna tux she wore to the MET 3 years ago). Rih, why are we back-pedaling? But my faith in you is not totally gone. Perhaps, a new stylist?

Ooo, damn but that hair???

SJP in Valentino

SJP, SJP you are not 105. Please, this is not fashion. All my years of Sex & the City adoration, for this??? I cannot look for too long. My eyes! Oh, no is that a matching shoe? I can’t with you, SJP.

So there you have it, my loves!! The Good, The Bad & The Ugly- MET GALA 2012!

What’s your fav? And who did you want to beat over the head?

Best: Karolina Kurkova

Worst: SJP (I’m scarred.)

xoxo
