Mellow into Fall with the season’s go-to hue.

My fave neutral – grey – has taken center stage this Fall. I call it the “ultimate neutral” and it’s exactly that. You can wear it in place of basic black and it does the most amazing thing for your look by adding instant cool factor, while being subtlely chic. What more could you ask for from a neutral? 

During NYFW, designers like 3.1 Phillip Lim, Theysken’s Theory and Proenza Schouler presented greys – from ash to deep charcoal, from outerwear to accessory.

For a look that works for everyday (read: that won’t wash you out), try adding a fun pop of unexpected color to your head to toe grey ensemble. Heck, if you’re print happy like your’s truly, feel free to add a bit of that, too. Here’s how I wore my grey look recently.

STYLE TIPS

Go for monotone grey or mix light ash hues with dark charcoals

Play with proportions! Here, I did a roomy sweater with a short skirt for balance

Add one vibrant accessory as an accent color, fire engine red is a good choice
